hailstones of quartz peach white
some with gold sandwiched between bloated cheeks
of rock
as luck would have it or not
to strike upon that gifted stone
dry river beds filled with stringybark
discarded from ever expanding gum
lining the banks
shedding skin
as snakes begin again undone
with a stroke the shed is captured
pastel tones an ochre backdrop
against the arid ancient land
crows swarm and gorge on death
a grey fallen leather taught against ribs
the crack of parched twigs underfoot
dry heat blistering clay and fallen wood
an ever pulsating humm
crickets chanting for fat rain
a blurring white noise of fauna
all is returned to clay and quartz
enriched by bark, branches, bones and blood
canvas linseed jarrah wood
all seeped into the earth transformed to gold

I want for nothing
I want for nothingness
I want for nothing
but the waves caress
I want for nothingness
towards the pulpit
the spray is calling
magma of liquid and gas
form dark waves
forever
forever
forever
I want for

and so
together we took to the waves
the air
a salty breath on our faces
I do remember
rock pools and sand
the seaweed stretched out its
tendrils like hands
calling us
beckoning us forward towards
waves crashing
as deep cymbals in chorus
I felt
your hand tight round mine as we waded in
the roar
so fierce and bold I gasped breath in
the sea so vast
stretching in and out forever
time stretched broad and blue
as the ocean never ceasing
holding us
we nestled in it’s arm
circling us
soft storm before the calm
I hold you close
gentle wave inside my heart
then let you float
to that ocean of stars

life is change
evolution
consequence so large
but so
universally small
inconsequence
apocalypse
balance
push and pull
give and take
ebb and flow
life is change
all these changes
life is change
evolution is life but
we are not the only species
this world is not here for us
it’s here for every being
this world is not here for us
it’s here for every thing
this world is not here for us
it’s here for every being
the existence of life
a f*ckin precious thing
