magnolias against a steely sky
make my heart leech from my chest and through my eyes
all my bones and flesh and blood have
fallen here for you to plunder
steel building blocks breach the skyline
echoing our cold hearts steeped in brine
all my bones and flesh and blood have
fallen here for you to plunder
skies open and release their wrath
tears mingle in a salt filled bath
all my bones and flesh and blood have
fallen here for you to plunder

she saw dandelions
where we reclined
that day
heaving in the sky
cumulus did cry
wishing that you would stay
all around us grew
drops of molten dew
glistening in spite of day
she saw dandelions
where we reclined
that day

tiny rainbows in your hair each shaft looks like a radiant prism
hair that shelters skin thats fair from harsh rays blinding vision
resting from the brightest days in valleys that defy the seasons
safe from all that haunts us now we lie without a sense of reason
oh but how we’ve tumbled from
skies so blue to shadows so long
oh and did we stumble
into monochrome
tiny rainbows in your hair each shaft is like a radiant prism
a searing fire catches me unaware it seeps in through a hazy vision
burning through my heart it’s warmth does overwhelm my senses take me on
safe from nought that haunts us now we lie without a sense of reason
oh but how we’ve tumbled from
skies so blue to shadows so long
oh and did we stumble

do you want to come with me
from grey through taupe roads weave out to the country
where we can see the stars above
mist coats us with tiny pearls
the sky shifts pulled by golden whirlpools
there we’ll stay
a quiet and tender place
pale sun settles sooner here
it’s warmth drawn breath like to reveal vast inky skies
where we can see the stars above
frozen sills and sleepy flames
wrap around hold us tight and safe
there we’ll stay
a quiet and tender place

one step back
into the electric night
towards cicadas piercing chorus
and I am hushed
a latent slow-fall into florid skies
atmospheric current is pulsing
and I am hushed
slows my blood till I am frozen
slows my blood till my heart stops
one step back
into the electric night
the heaving air as dense as tar
and I am hushed
slows my blood till I am frozen
slows my blood till my heart stops
one step back
into the electric night
towards cicadas piercing chorus
and I am hushed
