about

This track was written and recorded on the stolen lands of the Wurundjeri and Dja Dja Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation. Sovereignty was never ceded.

ALWAYS WAS, ALWAYS WILL BE

All proceeds from the sale of Quartz donated to Nalderun under the Pay The Rent scheme nalderun.net.au/pay-the-rent/

ABOUT

Quartz, is tranquil yet uniquely grounding. The track is experimental yet inviting - a journey deeply rooted in a sense of place and connection to the natural environment. Combining new-age with new-wave, the sound is layered and tasteful, blending mosaics of harp, synth, recorder and textural guitar and intimate vocals.

lyrics

LYRICS

hailstones of quartz peach white
Some with gold sandwiched between bloated cheeks
Of rock
As luck would have it or not
To strike upon that gifted stone

Dry river beds filled with stringybark
Discarded from ever expanding gum
Lining the banks
Shedding skin
As snakes begin again
Undone

With a stroke the shed is captured
Pastel tones an ochre backdrop
Against the arid ancient land

Crows swarm and gorge on death
A grey fallen leather taught against ribs
The crack of parched twigs underfoot
Dry heat blistering clay and fallen wood

An ever pulsating hum
Crickets chanting for fat rain
A blurring white noise of fauna

All is returned to clay and quartz
Enriched by bark, branches, bones and blood
Canvas linseed jarrah wood
All seeped into the earth transformed to
gold

Cold Hands Warm Heart Melbourne, Australia

Bark. Branches. Stones. Clay. Cold Hands Warm Heart is a Narrm-based collective of four musicians who seek to pay homage to nature by evoking it through experimental soundscapes.
